Summer Fun

We provide engaging, exciting, and educational summer adventures for youth.

Summer Science Leadership and Adventure Program.

This June join Gateway Mountain Center for an intensive five day science program. You will work on a long term research project done in collaboration with the UC Davis Center for Watershed Science as well as develop and execute your own project. There will still be time for out door adventures such as hiking, swimming in alpine lakes and some other water adventures. It is a great way to prepare for upper level high school and college science classes, to learn more about the Sierra and the watersheds, have great outdoor adventures, make memories to last a lifetime, and work on leadership skills while pushing mental and physical boundaries. All that while having the unique opportunity to learn how to develop, execute and present a research project.

Summer Day Camps at Sugar Bowl

Explore Nature Camps in partnership with Sugar Bowl!

Our day camp programs balance field science instruction, hiking, and reflection. We emphasize active learning that is cooperative, fun, and provocative. Destinations are chosen by our staff to illustrate themes and concepts and to provide a meaningful outdoor experience. Group safety; trail conditions, group cooperation and fitness levels are taken into account in determining a day’s activities. Days on the trail will include natural history learning activities and games, team building exercises, and journaling and reflection time. The core activities are rounded out with nature games, art, sensitizing and reflection activities, and journaling.
